Instead of using wood for the majority of the shelves, the units utilize metal which is stronger and can be made thinner, allowing for more efficient use of space. The Beaune cabinets are equipped with 13 full sliding shelves, 1 half sliding shelf and 1 display shelf and slide out on telescopic rails for easy access to the bottles at the back of the shelf. In order to prevent overheating, it's crucial to leave at least 50 mm of space behind the wine fridge for ventilation.

It's highly recommended that there is a minimum gap of 3-5 inches from the side and rear of the unit to any other surface. Freestanding wine cooler units should not be installed under a countertop (under counter), built in to cabinetry or covered over the top in any way as this can cause over heating and negates the manufacturer warranty. Integrated wine fridges are similar to built-in wine coolers but are designed to slot in perfectly into cupboards to create a floating, seamless look. In comparison to a built-in unit, integrated wine coolers sit completely flush with your cabinetry.
