How Do I Install My Under Counter 60cm Wide Wine Cooler?
When looking for a 60cm wine cooler, you will find that every unit is categorized as either ‘freestanding’ or ‘built-in’. This simply refers to the way in which that unit can be installed.
Freestanding wine coolers are designed to be installed as stand-alone units, away from other appliances and surfaces.
They need to be installed with approximately 3-5 inches of space around their sides and back. This is to allow for the unit’s heat to be properly dissipated.
60cm built in wine coolers on the other hand are designed to be built in to kitchen cabinets and underneath countertops.
600mm wide wine fridges are actually 595mm or 59.5cm wide to allow for the door to swing open in a 60cm wide cavity when they're built in to cabinetry.
Due to their front-facing ventilation systems, they can be installed almost anywhere, providing there are approximately 0.25 inches of space left around their sides.
600mm / 60cm Wine Fridge Features
60cm wine coolers are renowned for providing wine bottles with the most optimal conditions to age gracefully.
Due to their slightly larger capacities, 600mm under counter wine coolers offer space and features that may not be offered in 150mm wide, 300mm wide, 400mm wide or 500mm wide wine fridges
60cm wine coolers and fridges are available as single zone wine fridges, dual or multi-zone coolers. This refers to the number of temperature zones within the cabinet.
Whilst single-zone units work to keep your wine at a stable, precise temperature, dual zone wine cooler units work to chill two types of wines at their ideal individual serving or storage temperatures.
Additionally, multi zone wine coolers are designed to provide several types of wine with optimal conditions, sometimes offering up to 6 different temperature zones.
If your bottle collection solely consists of red wine, a single zone wine cooler should be able to provide you with everything you need.
On the other hand, if your bottle collection consists of red wine, white wine and champagne, you will need to consider purchasing a dual zone or multi zone wine cooler.
All of our 600mm wide wine coolers are fitted with UV protected glass doors so you don't need to worry about sunlight damaging your wine collection.
Although the doors provide 98-99% protection its still wise to position the door of the unit away from direct sunlight.
The under counter 60cm wine fridges available from Expert Wine Storage are very quiet. That being said, some models are almost silent at 35dB, while others are slightly less quiet at around 40dB. If you're planning to fit your wine fridge into cabinetry much of the noise of the wine cooler will be dampened by the carpentry.
Our selection of 600mm wine fridges are perfectly suited for use in kitchen, dining or living spaces where you need your wine fridge sound out put to be barely noticeable!

How Many Wine Bottles Can a 60cm Wine Fridge Hold?
Here at Expert Wine Storage we offer 600mm wide wine fridges with heights suitable for under counter use, full height models and medium sized models, you can see a guide to the bottle capacities below.
Please note that the vast majority of wine fridges on the market have bottle capacities measured in 750ml Bordeaux bottles so filling your wine fridge with larger bottles will reduce the capacity somewhat.
Under Counter 600mm Wide Bottle Capacity
The under counter 600mm wide wine fridges on offer at Expert Wine Storage come with bottle capacities ranging from 35 to 55 Bordeaux bottles (750ml).
Tall, Full Height 600mm Wide Bottle Capacity
The tall 60cm wide wine fridges on offer at Expert Wine Storage come with bottle capacities ranging from 120 to 220 Bordeaux bottles (750ml).
The bottle capacities available in these taller models largely depends on the number of shelves in the unit and whether or not these shelves are display shelves (which hold less bottles) or flat shelves (which hold more bottles).
Is a 600mm Wine Cooler Right For Me?
600mm under counter wine refrigerators are incredibly popular amongst wine lovers due to their offer of space, style and flawless performance.
With this being said, before deciding whether a 60cm wine cooler is right for you, there are various factors you will need to consider.
Firstly, you will need to think about the size and layout of your home and whether you have adequate space to store or install a 60cm wine fridge.
You will also need to think about the size and condition of your wine collection. If you are someone who simply likes to keep 8-20 bottles of their favourite dinner pairings to hand, you may not require a cooler as wide as 600mm.
On the other hand, if you are someone who is looking for an idyllic environment to store all of your supermarket favourites, along with an impressive collection of vintages, a 600mm wine cooler could be the perfect choice for you.
600mm Wide Wine Fridge FAQs
Can You Reverse The Door of a 60cm Built In Wine Fridge?
Yes, you can reverse the hinge of the door on most 600mm built in wine coolers.
As a general rule these wine fridges come with doors which open from left to right (right hand side hinge).
However the doors on these products can be switched to left hand hinge quite easily with a few basic tools (screwdriver, spanner, spirit level).
We also offer a door reversal service so doors can be switched prior to delivery to you - get in touch if you would like to add a door reversal to your order and we'll be happy to help.
How Much Ventilation Does a 600mm Wine Cooler Need?
Most 600mm wine fridges are designed to be built in to cabinetry and are fitted with air vents at the front so they don't require ventilation around the sides or top.
However 60cm width models do require 1-2cm of free space at the rear of the unit in order to house the power cable.
Can I Store Champagne / Magnums In This Size of Wine Fridge?
Yes, the majority of 60cm wide wine fridges can accommodate larger size wine bottles like Champagnes, Prosecco and Magnums.
Just note you may need to remove or adjust the positioning of shelving to fit these larger bottles in the unit comfortably.
Does a 600mm Wine Fridge Use a Lot of Electricity?
Most 600mm wide wine fridges are rated either F or G energy rating.
Although F or G energy ratings may not sound very efficient, the rating scale for appliances changed in 2021 when most units would have been rated A+, A or B.
On average these size of wine fridge use between 120kW/annum and 180kW/annum depending on their overall size and type.
