Discover tall wine coolers, designed to be built-in to cabinetry but can also be freestanding. Full-height wine fridges use floor-to-ceiling space to maximise storage and are available with single or dual temperatures.

Why Invest in a Tall Wine Fridge?

Floor-to-ceiling wine fridges make a statement in any space. We've supplied coolers to Michelin restaurants and 5-star hotels.

Unlike smaller models, lengthy products offer the option to incline wine bottles on display shelves - so you can view bottle labels.

Some tall wine refrigerators feature white overhead and side lighting, premium models offer customisable LED lights in white, warm white, or blue - perfect for a restaurant centerpiece.

    Key Features of Full-Height Models

With full-length wine fridges available from £1,200 to £3,000+ for deluxe, high specification models, here are features to expect:

    1. Temperature Zones

Tall wine cabinets offer compressor-cooled single or dual-temperature zones, the range is usually 5°C to 20°C and can be adjusted via digital display.

In dual zones, the warmer zone for red wines can be set independently from the cooler zone, for white and sparkling wines. Ideal for split long-term storage and serving needs.

    2. Generous Bottle Capacities

Bottle capacities range from 100 to 300+ Bordeaux (750ml) bottles. Higher-height coolers are suited to larger bottles like Champagnes.

Full height wine coolers like the Swisscave WLB460DF-MIX (RRP £3,159) conveniently features 50% beechwood shelves for Bordeaux and 50% with wider slats for Burgundy-sized bottles.

Most upright wine fridges have similar volumes, bottle capacities only differ due to the number of shelves included in a product.

A tall wine cooler, like the Vin Garde Volnay 120 with 120 bottle capacity, has 9 shelves.

In comparison the Vin Garde Volnay 176 has the same dimensions, 16 shelves and 176 bottle capacity.

    3. Maximise Floor To Ceiling Space

Models come in a range of shapes and sizes but these are the parameters in size you'll find:

    • Height: From 1500mm to 1800mm high.
    • Width: Most units are 600mm wide, if you have less width, explore our 500mm products - purchase a 50cm wine fridge.
    • Depth: 595mm to approximately 730mm deep. Finding a ceiling height and shallow unit can be difficult. The shallowest, tallest model we offer is the 595mm deep Dunavox DX-123.338DB (price £3,249) in either black or stainless steel finished door.

    4. Other Features & Benefits

From budget-friendly to top-tier models featuring a comprehensive range of add-ons. Check the specific product you're interested in for the features included:

    • Child locks to secure your collection.
    • Telescopic rails smooth, supported pull-out access, even on a shelf stacked with bottles.
    • Carbon filters protect your collection from odours like cooking smells.
    • Reversible doors on all built-in models, so the door can swing open from left to right or right to left.
    • UV-protected, double-glazed doors protect your wines from harmful UV light.
    • Economical compared to maturing your wine in the cellars of a merchant.

Installation of a Tall Wine Storage Unit

Most high wine fridges can be built-in or freestanding (some as integrated models - explore integrated wine coolers) and have grills at the bottom for air ventilation, which must be unobstructed.

Looking for freestanding wine fridges for sale, we have them too.

A gap of 1-2cm should be left on the hinge side of the door for it to swing open.
